Privacy Policy

Overview

FairLoad ("FairLoad", "we", "us") helps individuals and couples track and fairly share household work. This policy explains what information the FairLoad mobile app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. FairLoad is operated by Marios Konstantinou, an independent app developer who is the data controller for your information. You can reach the controller using the contact details at the end of this policy.

We built FairLoad to be private by default: it works offline-first on your device, contains no advertising, and includes no third-party advertising or analytics trackers.

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run the service:

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and an optional display name. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive a basic profile identifier from that provider. With Sign in with Apple, you may choose Apple's private relay so we never see your real email address.

Household & task content

We store the content you create in the app: the households you create or join; your tasks and their effort weights (physical, emotional and mental load); completions and history; your FairScore and balance data; and any nudges or activity you generate. In Couple mode, this content is shared with the other member(s) of your household so you can coordinate together.

Subscription information

If you subscribe to FairLoad Pro, we receive your subscription status and transaction identifiers through RevenueCat and the Apple App Store or Google Play. We never receive or store your full payment-card details. Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google.

Device & technical data

We use a device-generated identifier to deliver reminders and to sync your data. Basic diagnostic logs may be generated to help the app run correctly; these stay on your device unless you choose to share them with us for support.

Data stored only on your device

FairLoad is offline-first. Much of your data is cached locally on your device, and if you use Solo mode without creating an account, your data may never leave your device at all.

How we use your information

  • To provide and sync FairLoad across your devices and household;
  • To calculate your FairScore and show your household's balance;
  • To send the reminders, notifications and nudges you enable;
  • To manage your FairLoad Pro subscription and entitlements;
  • To maintain security, prevent abuse, and fix problems;
  • To comply with legal obligations.

Where the law requires a legal basis (e.g. the GDPR), we rely on performing our contract with you (providing the app), your consent (e.g. notifications), and our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure and working.

How your information is shared

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising. We share information only in these limited cases:

  • With your household. In Couple mode, your tasks, completions, activity and FairScore are visible to the partner(s) you share a household with.
  • With service providers who process data on our behalf, under contract (see below).
  • For legal reasons, if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the service.

Service providers (sub-processors)

We rely on a small number of trusted providers:

Where your data is stored & how long we keep it

Account and household data is stored on secure infrastructure hosted in the European Union (Frankfurt) via Supabase. We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete the personal data associated with it from our systems (shared household content may be retained for remaining household members where appropriate). Data cached on your device is removed when you sign out or uninstall the app.

Your rights & choices

You can:

  • Access & correct your information from within the app;
  • Delete your account and data at any time in the app: Settings → Delete Account;
  • Control notifications from the app's settings or your device's system settings;
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, you also have the rights to data portability, to object to or restrict processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. If you are a California resident, you have the right to know, access and delete your personal information and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights; note again that we do not sell personal information. To exercise any right, contact us below.

Subscriptions & payments

FairLoad Pro is a paid subscription sold through the Apple App Store and Google Play and managed via RevenueCat. Billing, renewals and refunds are governed by the store you purchased through. We can see whether your subscription is active, but we never see your card number.

Children's privacy

FairLoad is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit (HTTPS) and store it on reputable, access-controlled infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is ever 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and to address vulnerabilities promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we'll provide notice in the app.
